Cannes Film Festival 2006: Competition movie - Marie-Antoinette

Sofia Coppola from the U.S. presents this period piece on the 18th century French Revolution, but she sticks to Marie-Antoinette's 15-odd years at the Versailles Palace (near Paris) with King Louis XVI. An Austrian princess, Marie married Louis when she was just 14, and it took her seven years to consumate her relationship.

I would give just Three Stars out of Ten. Why?  The film is just a picture postcard, and has little of the turbulance that marked the period of the Revolution.
